Michele Renaud's Portfolio

My preferred painting medium is encaustic paint.
My art is born of blending and layering many layers of encaustic paint. This allows me to create work that is rich in color and depth.
I work with no pre-conceived ideas. The final work reveals itself as it develops… after many revisions. As the layers build up, a composition is formed and begins to give the painting a life of its own. The work is finished only when it feels right to me. It is an emotional, rather than intellectual process that determines whether the painting is successful.
Encaustic is a Greek word meaning “to burn in”. Encaustic painting has a rich history dating back to the 5th century BC.

The process involves heating a mixture of beeswax, tree resin and pigment and painting it on a birch panel with a brush and then re-heating with a torch.
My work is an attempt to navigate through everyday chaos towards calm and to communicate my feelings through my art, inspiring emotions in the observer.

Gathering Artists Of Putnam

Hello Art Lovers,

As you might have noticed, Gathering Artists of Putnam is no longer residing at 712 St. Johns Ave. The building is undergoing additional renovations by Saylor's, to enhance their vibrant business!

That does not mean GAP is gone! As we continue to create Art and search for a more permanent home, we still have art available for viewing and purchasing! We have a series of featured artists exhibitions planned for The St. Johns River Center, 102 N.1st St Palatka, starting with Alain Hentschel's NEW WORK, opening reception on Friday, October 10. More collaborations could happen as well, so follow our Facebook Page to stay in the loop.

We are excited as we plan for our future home at the Larimer Arts Center coming soon. Stay tuned!
