Randi Heises' Portfolio
As I embrace nature and create art inspired by what I learn and observe, I strengthen my own roots and connect with the one wild place we all inhabit the natural world.
Creating art is my way of expressing the awe and wonder I experience from collaborating with nature every day. I want my art to inspire others to appreciate the strangely beautiful world we live in. From the majestic souring and acrobatic diving of
eagles as they fish from the local river to the complex and extremely efficient packaging of seeds waiting to burst from the seed pod that explodes casting seeds more efficiently
than any human hand. There is no greater gift than being able to trigger a child's wonder at the dispersal of dandelion seeds while making a wish or seeing an adult is awe of the creation they have made.
It took many years of working in a traditional office environment before I was able to gain the freedom to do what I love. Once retired I followed my own drummer and enrolled in a Botanical Illustration certificate program – with that the desire to pursue
first-class Botanical Art became my passion and all the shelves become overloaded with dried specimens and botanical collections. Nature is excellent at providing infinite
subjects, dead and alive, waiting to be captured on paper via watercolor and graphite.
An awards winning artist, I am fortunate in being able to display my watercolor and graphite work in various galleries in Florida. I have participated in juried shows in urban settings and in the most spectacular environment of natural settings such as a venue within the Florida State Park system. Now that you know what comprises my soul and heart, I am happy to introduce myself a bit more conventionally to you. I am the grandmother of girls and the mother of boys. I have always been enthralled by nature as demonstrated by my long support of Mother Earth through the Master Gardener and Master Naturalist programs. I was born and raised in Virginia, worked way too many years for the Power Company before now residing in a paradise consisting of a kaleidoscope of colors, dramatic flora and prehistoric to alien fauna in Florida.
