Shelley Schenker's Portfolio

T hough Shelley has lived in many places including Miami, the Keys, Guam, and California, she found her inner artist in Asheville, NC. There for fifteen years, while raising a young family, her professional artist life grew from dining room studio, to professional studio and eventually a large gallery she owned that hosted the work of more than 60 of Asheville’s environmentally informed artists. Shelley is known for her work called Magazine Mosaics. Each mosaic is created from scores of used magazine pages that were color sorted, hand-torn and fashioned into an environmentally themed mosaic. Culling old magazines for usable colors and textures is an ongoing process. Pulling the palette and artfully applying pieces to render a bold composition takes many hours with TEAR-riffic results! Now located on the shores of the St. John’s River, Shelley’s work is still informed by her love of nature and the 8-acre artsy-nature reserve she calls home, but she is reaching out of her original medium to include acrylic paintings and eventually 3-D sculptures.

Gathering Artists Of Putnam

Hello Art Lovers,

As you might have noticed, Gathering Artists of Putnam is no longer residing at 712 St. Johns Ave. The building is undergoing additional renovations by Saylor's, to enhance their vibrant business!

That does not mean GAP is gone! As we continue to create Art and search for a more permanent home, we still have art available for viewing and purchasing! We have a series of featured artists exhibitions planned for The St. Johns River Center, 102 N.1st St Palatka, starting with Alain Hentschel's NEW WORK, opening reception on Friday, October 10. More collaborations could happen as well, so follow our Facebook Page to stay in the loop.

We are excited as we plan for our future home at the Larimer Arts Center coming soon. Stay tuned!
